I vote for 185, 190 & 191 (those are their attachment ID #s) as my top 3. Second favorites are 184, 188 & 195. But let me also say that they’re all pretty freakin’ awesome.

  2. Joss Streett Says:

Wow, they are all amazing. It’s hard to choose just three. My first two were easy but many of them tied after that. I choose the mom and daughter in the water and the little girl smiling by the fruit first two. The third ties with a few others but I think I finally went for the little girl playing by the boats over the boats by themselves and the church. Very nicely done.

Mother and daughter bathing , three girls walking, children by boats.
I have a question about the 2 of them as follows: The three girls walking have much of the photo blurred out as if out of focus, but their feet for instance would naturally be within the depth of field; likewise the hand of the little girl at the beach. So, my question would be: is this effect the intentional result of a darkroom manuever that could be reduced or eliminated?

Mother and daughter bathing is a standout best as it draws a strong emotional response.

Shoot me an Email if you are ever headed up to VT. I’d love to meet you folks face to face and share some more tales of our journeys.

    Glen Y Asha,

The question in itself is too vague - I strongly believe you need to know the submission catagory first.

    187 & 194 are stunners.

191 is great too but maybe crop of the top 1/3rd removing the big clowds, & 186 is cool but maybe crop out the post on the left.

I don’t like 183 unless full frame includes rest of man’s body nor 192 as your shadow is visable…

I’d like to see all of the once with the motion blur effect either without or with much less of the effect.

    Hope that helps - peace!

  5. Glen y Asha Says:

Thanks everyone! This is so helpful!

Reuben: it is a lens baby; http://www.lensbaby.com (that should answer all your questions)

We’d love to get more feedback, so if you know anyone who would have fun selecting their top 3, please send the link to them. This blog has been so much about the feedback we get from you guys, so we want everything downstream from it to involve all of you.

And if there are any writers in the mix, please send a comment, if you would like to write about your experience while reading the blog. How it affected, what it inspired you to do, or how you saw yourself in our story. I would love to correspond with you off-line, and have you submit a one-page entry. We are going to select 3 pieces to include in our book project.

We are still synthesizing our experience, and our lives are really richer because of this trip. The cool thing was that we got to connect with you all while traveling!

its a consensus, the mother and daughter is amazing. I also like the fishermen on the dock and Maximon. I hope this helps - I really think all of these pictures are pretty amazing. Best!

    Hey all,
I like the one of the mom & daughter, the guy with the plants, and then it’s a toss-up between the two photos of the little girls (one w/the boats the other at the food stand)…. but it depends on the category & type of gallery you’re submitting to.
By the way, I’m headed to Oaxaca for Dia de los Muertos at the end of the month!!!!
    take care,
    ang

  8. Jacobo Says:

    Hola amigos,
    Jacobo

  9. Robert Says:

    #188, #192 and #199

  10. Pedro Says:

Thanks for the inquiry with the picture decision. In not having a numerical reference to the photos, I’ll to try po int them out by decsription. For a travel type outlay I can see (1) the shelter at the end of the wooden pier. (2) the two colorful boats sitting in the quite water. (3) the person relaxing in the hammock. All the rest would be great towards a human-interest view.. Thanks again for the requested in-put……….. Ppp

  11. Meg Says:

My vote is for the mother and daughter in the water, the little girl by the fruit and the boats. The photos are really wonderful; I personally like the ones with the vibrant colors.

    Thanks for letting me participate!

    Peace,
    Meg

  13. Karen Says:

    Hi guys:
Just loved all the photos from your trip…although some of the ones I remember that really blew me away are not in your 10!! However, if I have to choose from these, I would vote for 188, 194, and 190. My favorites are the landscapes…wonder why?!?
    Love ya!

  14. Asha y Glen Says:

Thank you, thank you everyone!!! If you have any contacts in galleries, please hook us up! :-)

  15. Leslie Duss Says:

Hi - I see that Glen used a lensbaby, but what kind of lens did he use to get the particular wide angle?
They’re all so nice…my favs are:
w20080716-fray-15 (top row, first at left)
    w_mc_7153 - two women embracing
w_mc_7258 - man in the field
    Good luck! - Leslie

  16. Katie Says:

Amazing photos! I, like Pedro, cannot see any numbers identifying the photos. But I agree with Pedro’s sentiment on the two topics, and specifically, those same 3 photos for a ‘travel’ theme and all the rest for a human interest piece.
In fact, I think you could take groupings of these pictures and market them on e-bay or some travel web-site.

  17. Rose Says:

#1 - Little girl by fruit.
    #2 - Mom & daughter in water.
#3- Tie: Four men fishing & little girls by boats.
Hard to choose just 3, they are all very good!!!

  18. Wendy B Says:

I’m for 189 - the women in the water, then 188 the boat, then 199 the hammock. I’d SO love to be that woman in the hammock right now as winter is approaching.

(I found the numbers by holding my cursor over the picture. )

  19. Asha & Glen Says:

    Hi Everyone,
Thank you, thank you for your enthusiastic responses. As we said, this process has been so much about our relationship with you that we had to ask what you though. So, here it is….

Girl w/ Mom at hot springs
    boats
    Maximon

Unless of course, we change our minds last minute!

Also, if any of you have any gallery contacts, we would be so happy to know about them, as we want more people to see these photos and hear about our story. Yes, we are having a tough time letting go of this road trip. Well, now we get to write about it and show these powerful photos.

    Thanks again!
